How to choose who to invite to the wedding?

Deciding who to invite or not to your wedding is always a great dilemma!

Let’s figure out together how it’s best to do, without going crazy!
First of all, discuss with your partner and define the number of guests you would like to have, both on the basis of your budget and the location you have chosen!

Then focus together and make a list of friends and family that you feel you absolutely want on your special day.

Choose the people you couldn’t do without.

You have compiled your list, but you still have to talk to your parents, who will ask you to invite relatives or acquaintances. Here the choice is up to you, based on the type of wedding you want!

Will it be more informal, because there is an unwritten code that you have to follow or do you want full freedom of action and do you prefer a more intimate marriage among friends?

Surely a few questions about the person you would like to invite can help you.
For example:

  • Have you talked to this person in the last year?
  • Has your partner ever met this person?
  • Were you invited or could you be invited to his wedding?
  • Could you imagine your wedding without this person?
  • Have you been in contact beyond work?

From this first draft, in which you fortunately got along and shared your wishes, you have come to define the hearts of the guests, but also pay attention to the companions.

Surely it is always better to stay wide considering the number of guests

When you go to formalize the wedding invitations, you will have to be careful to specify perfectly who is invited.

If the invitation is addressed to a relative and his family, the person’s name must be entered followed by the words “and family”. If the invitee is not a family member and has a partner, both names will be included in the invitation.

In the event that the presence of the companion is not certain, or you do not know the person because it is not yet official, the invitation will include the name of the guest and the much used +1.

Don’t forget the Kids list

To conclude the list of your guests, make a separate list of children, who, even if they are not considered as guests, will still have to be considered for the menus or for any choice to contract a specific entertainment service.

Before sending the wedding invitations, it will be a good idea to read your list over and over again: some friendships can evolve, some couples can break up, others decide to get married at the same time as you… Expect, on average, around 20% of negative answers: an update will therefore be a must, so that you can enjoy a happy, carefree and unforgettable day.
